After everything that's happened with the Hornets, attacks on the Swear-Ins, Crane... I've been debating operating a team here. Psychiatric evaluations are obviously an aspect of team building I can't do. I'm not qualified.

[Give him a second to absorb that. Okay. Like, he sees there may be some agenda to this, securing Power Girl as an ally. She'd be good to have around in case of emergency. Hannibal Lecter coming back, for instance. But Will's seen some of Chilton's emergencies firsthand. He's the one who cleans those up, and would Chilton really want to out his more insidious projects to someone like Power Girl? Risk his appearances?]

Why not? Demented people slip through even the best, most vigilant evaluations. If you're building a team, I agree, mentality is important. But so is following your gut. Is your gut telling you legitimate psychiatric evaluations are absolutely necessary?

[Will sounds like someone who isn't convinced they are a necessity. He's got an agenda here, too. Perhaps a more selfish one than usual, but oh well. Bite him.]

I know. It's happened to my team before back home and we paid a price for it.

[ And then the team fell apart because they couldn't agree on their tactics. ]

Not that those that are sick or are dealing with some personal issues can't be an asset. [ Obsidian, Atom Smasher... they had plenty of them. They all do, it's kind of a package deal being a superhero. ] But with the proper evaluations, I don't have to worry too much about the government worrying about my vetting process.

I am, so I'd hope if this takes off that those I want on the team could put aside that discomfort.

If I'm to build a team, the decisions I make need to reflect well on me, too. I need people to trust me. [ She sighs. ] Not to mention, Chilton did wrongly paint someone as a suspect in Freddie Lounds's case.

However, I'm assuming since I've never heard anything negative about his practice that he's not a bad guy. Just blunt, if anything.

Only if the looks aren't a bluff. Last thing we need's another seemingly well-adjusted imPort with a few eccentricities revealing themselves as a calculating, cruel, crazy son of a bitch. [Pardon his French, ma'am.] Doctor Chilton doesn't have anything to lose if that happens again. Not unless he's involved. If it happens within your team after he's done an evaluation, story's different. Your name's on it, sure. So's his. Opportunistic or not, there's a heavy risk to him should he make a mistake.

[It's all in such a dull voice that when he lets out what's basically a vote of confidence (much to his internal displeasure), it may smack as abrupt simply because everything before has been so bleak.]

I'd say he fits your needs perfectly.
