Except you screwed up, Will. You screwed up. You didn't come for me in the darkest hour of this, you let it fester.
Dorian has nothing to gain by me. He's a peacock spreading his tail feathers, he wanted to feel better about himself so came to gloat. You, however, you have a lot to lose by manipulating me. You are doing it right now because you know you have a lot to lose.
I have offered you multiple chances to tell the truth over a span of months, Will, and you had continue to run from it. Do you not understand?

[It's almost like karma. Will barely spent any time in Chilton's hospital room. He always could have gone back, but why would he? It would just be miserable for them both and he would have been begging for it. Probably wouldn't have been good for Chilton's recovery, either. How low of a person would he have been to go upsetting the burn victim he pretty much put there himself? The staff would judge him. Chilton's room itself would judge him. Alana and Jack would judge him. Hannibal would be Proud. UghhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHHH the worst.]

Keep April away from me. She's so blinded that it has become a severe danger, so keep her away from Raina and myself.
Then, and only then, you and I can talk.
[It was at least an improved situation: April was intolerable and of poor judgement, absolutely the sort of straw to break a camel's back. Chilton thought even less of her as she stood by Will through this -- hell, she was more likely to forgive Dorian for his abuse and manipulation of Will, a conclusion that required little psychological analysis. Because of this, because of how she had always been to him, she was a toxicity that Chilton could easily snub.
But Will Graham was a different kind of bile. Frederick Chilton couldn't as easily say no to him, and he so deeply feared that the both of them knew it. Even as he was wounded, even as he stood betrayed, he knew he couldn't forever excommunicate Will. No matter how hard he tried.
He couldn't pinpoint what was so wrong with him to feel that kind of mercy.]

[He worries his bottom lip. He almost doesn't ask. But it may be important, if Chilton chooses somewhere public...]
