I would certainly consider it, yeah. Even though I don't exactly celebrate the holiday the invitation is appreciated. And I'd bring my cat along.

Can't blame you there. It's less about the holiday and more of an excuse to have a big meal and either plenty of leftovers for the rest of the week or none because we've sent them to out to other people.

[And probably sneaked a few bits and bobs to animals under the table. Bela's cat can be one of them.]

Might as well go all out with an occasion like that. Plenty of people around who appreciate home cooking.

[Or so she imagined anyway. Bela didn't know what everyone's preferences were.]

I never went to holiday dinners back home. Too busy with work.

Well if no major emergencies pop up to make going out a problem, you don't have work keeping you busy, and you'd like to appreciate home cooking yourself, you know where you're welcome to stop by. Like it enough, you could take home a few days' worth of leftovers.

[Their house already has a lot of people, okay. If he's going to do holiday dinner stuff, Will is going to go all out and make enough to feed a small army. Maybe he'll even invite Chilton and Raina! (Or so he thinks now.]

Now that I think about it, I believe that not many people would want to shop on a holiday so I could always close the shop for a day. No excuse for me not coming to the dinner.

[A little socialising couldn't hurt.]

You may be better off closing the shop down. This is one holiday Americans can get a little...fanatical over, let's say. Mine will be shut down too.

[She might have, like, two or three customers. But she'll probably get a few stink-eyes because being open on Thanksgiving is just unpatriotic!!! Unless it's McDonald's or Walmart or whatever, then apparently it's okay because people need their fish fillets and hot apple pies and constant access to stuff they could wait a day for. Gosh.]

I'm sure fanatical is an understatement. I do remember July 4th quite well this year.

So I'll close it for a day.

[Bela shouldn't really care much because a)she's British and b)those annoyed Americans could stuff it, but no point in wasting electricity in keeping her shop running for a day when no one will come to it.]
