[He's still calm. He's still speaking matter of factly, as if the idea of Will saying no hasn't even crossed his mind]

Profile someone for you. [Dull gives way to disbelief.] Who is it, and will this be a private matter or something else?
no subject
[Not I anymore. We. His voice goes firm, emphasizing how this matter is much bigger than the two of them.]

Funny thing, though, in the way it isn't funny at all, is that Miles doesn't really need to go either route. Not today, at least. He thinks of Chilton, and Raina, and their recent Baltimore pal, and in a tone that's as malleable as it is weary:]
Give me a time and place and I'll be there.

...and that's completely unnecessary. Edgeworth blinks, surprised at how easy it was, and clears his throat.]
I'll send you the address in just a moment. ...and thank you.

[It's almost automatic at this point, being polite. Certain people crop up and all Will can think to do is be courteous. Some training he's had.]
Am I to assume this makes us even, or were you not using favor as shorthand to remind me that I owed you?
[Blunt, but he isn't upset. He has his own reasons for doing this aside from owing Miles, of course, but if Miles will let him kill two birds with one stone, why the hell would he pass that up? Sometimes it's better when the bird doesn't know it's getting taken out. Sweeter.]

What was it you told me earlier? [His voice is quieter now. Softer, even] That you would have done things differently? If you had known the full scope.
no subject
Yes. [That's basically his life, really. He could say that about literally everything that's happened in Baltimore for six straight months.] Is this my chance to atone?
no subject
It's an opportunity to lend a hand. Only you can decide if that counts for atonement or not.
[You know. If you think that's enough to make up for what you've done.]
no subject
Right. [He had meant to atone in Miles' direction specifically, not to everyone else, but. He'll leave it be for now. His mind's already going in fifteen different morbid directions, best to let it sit until later.] If that's everything, I should get on preparing a concise and cohesive profile.
