Is there something I'm doing with Will you think is off? Do you have questions about anything you'd like me to answer? Do you have any constructive criticism for me? This is the place to do it! Anon is enabled, ip logging is off.
Will's empathy gift is used when he accesses the minds of killers to see how and why it happened and so forth. He has not had an opportunity to use that here in Asgard, but if it cropped up and there was a need for it, then I would play it out. I don't know if you mean you've seen me doing something with it because I can't recall using it or mentioning it. He's talked about his job but not gone very in depth in the way he does it, but he's mentioned a bit more to some people but never in the way of "I have pure empathy."
I cannot really recall a time where Will might be really thought of as "XD" because he's not a happy guy, no, and there's very few things in Asgard that make him happy. He's happy he's not home, but he also hates that he's not home. He's talked to people and funny things have been said, and he's not used to it because he has a very limited pool of people back home, and they know how to treat/handle him. Asgard isn't strange just because of magic, it's strange because no one really knows him and asks him things he is never really asked back home and he knows nothing bad is really meant by it but it still raises his hackles. Going back through some threads, I can see the way I write things being silly but I can't see much with Will actually being overly happy about anything in Asgard so far.
Dog snagging? Yeah, I wanted a first post that would be easy to reply to by anyone in the game because why does this guy have so many dogs. Will has seven dogs in canon. Two of the dogs in that post were random, one was Jade's, and the other was Grey Wind. I had talked to both players beforehand and they thought it was a funny idea, and that was part of the reason I went with it. Will is not an open guy. He's not about to start asking the network deep introspective questions or just go announcing his presence. I needed a post, so I went with dogs because there were people in game who had pet dogs (or similar, direwolf taken into account) and Will does take dogs home. If you notice, Winston actually had a collar and a leash. I don't know if he stole him so much, but it doesn't exactly show him calling up people missing a dog if there is a number on the collar.
The flower crowns? That was part of the event. I didn't just pull that out at random. They were worked into the event itself, which I was really delighted by. It gives him something to easily react to by others (is that the guy with the dogs making those things) and his hobby back home is making fishing lures, which includes doing close, precise work with his hands and is rather relaxing. It's something familiar. He didn't just start doing them because it's a fandom thing and yes, that was part of it, but there's things he does in canon that lend to the idea that yeah, he'd probably be somewhat good at making them once he spent enough time with it. If you follow those threads, there's not much XD to them, either. It's a silly thing, yes, but the silliness of it didn't impact him and turn him into a super happy guy who just loves flower crowns. If you go back to said flower crown post, you can see that some of those threads aren't very happy at all, such as the one where he's having to deal with seeing Barty again. I posted flower crowns. Yes. But the threads resulting aren't happy happy joy joy. At least one is small talk. He's not sociable back home, but he's in a place where it's going to have to happen at one point or another. I cannot make AC if he talks to only a few people and never goes out or partakes in events. I'm not going to write up a starter of him standing around being grumpy and drinking beer because that has no hook and anyone who wants CR really has no reason to tag him in that. If anyone had wanted to thread with him, having no hook at all would make it difficult. Flower crowns were in the event, I explained how it tied into back home, and the fact that he was doing something that could be seen as silly didn't change him as a character at all. It was a hook that people could take and anyone who wanted to thread with him and hadn't found a reason to now had something their character could react to.
At the same time as all of this, Will has been having some rather serious threads with multiple people. I do not link everything I thread on plurk. I don't have a thread tracking post. Those threads are not all I am doing in game. He's become involved in the event where the school is burned down that will result in rough times for him that may (most likely will) strain some CR he has going right now. It's going to throw him off even further. I'm not out to make him a one-note dog snatcher and nothing else.
About the cannibal thing, he does worry about it, especially around roughly the first half of the episode, but by the end, he's sure he was framed. And well, now during season two, he remembered he didn't willingly eat the ear, it was shoved into his stomach (thanks, Hannibal), and he pleaded innocent.
This is during season two. Will in Asgard is not from season two. He's from the end of the first one. He has not yet had the time for that first half of the episode to worry about the cannibalism because that's past his canon point. He does not know about Hannibal shoving the ear down his throat because that's before his canon point. I have been toying with an idea I need to ask the mods about as a means to work with getting some memories back through someone with magic that might help it, but as of now, he cannot know that. Having him suddenly know it without any outside influence cannot and will not happen. I am not going to canon update him until the end of the season or after, so without anything in Asgard happening that would lead to him reasonably getting memories back, there's nothing I can do to incorporate that part of season 2. It's off the table, no pun intended.
Not everyone interprets the same character the same way. That is one great joy I have found in roleplay. There are characters in game now that I never thought much about before or not in certain lights, but through watching people play them and how they play them, I've thought about them more and differently, be it thinking of them more negatively or positively, and I really enjoy that.
I don't think you meant any harm, and there's nothing to apologize for. You don't sound rude or bitchy, as you said before. I've explained as best I can with what you've given me. If something I've said is confusing, I will do my best to clarify it further.
