[What isn't with this guy and food, really.]

Preoccupations with fire are common. Does damage but doesn't exactly dirty hands. A foul move, and deadly, but it makes it more difficult to track which fingers are covered in that dirt and blood. Easy to blame it on a malfunctioning device in whatever sort of thing goes up in flames. I've seen it happen more often than I'd like.

[And for worse purposes.]

Crouch, from what I've read, wouldn't count as intelligent. If he was intelligent, he wouldn't be following anyone. He wouldn't need anyone else to encourage him to act on his lack of stability. He wouldn't need to be part of a group. None of them would. It could be brainwashing, it could be a desire to "fit in" with someone, it could be a lot of things. Sure, there is intelligence in those who follow such people, but the more intelligent don't usually last long. They get taken out as threats or have the smarts to get out of it in one way or another before they get taken out of the picture entirely. Blindly following hardly seems intelligent unless it was something like capture-bonding, and that doesn't seem to be the case.

(Capture-bonding is the idea that someone who is kidnapped does what they can to bond with their captor in the hopes of coming out as unscathed as possible. They do what they feel they must in order to survive. Sometimes this leads to less happy scenarios, such as the victims being rescued but having developed what they view as genuine feelings for their captors and begging them not be judged too harshly or to be left with them. Falling in love with them, etc. He's not in love with him, is he?)

I'll be doing some looking into it and coming to my own verdict, yes. It gives me something to do here. Why not.

You're welcome, Mr. Dumbledore. Did you still have that scramble recipe? That songbird has a nest full of eggs.
